Opted for the 200 amp service and I have a shop and a cabin to run electric to. The meter/main box will be provided and goes on the pole. The lugs accept 4/0 alum. The engineering guy told me it would be best for me to run 200 amps power to the shop and then put a 100 amp breaker in the shop to run to the cabin. Instead of paying 0 for a trailer pole and 200 amp meter box, I had to buy the 400 amp meter box with two 200 amp breaker sets for 0, plus make the stand, etc. If it is just a simple shop you plan, I'd likely go with just the 200 amp, and spend any extra on a transfer switch so you can add a generator later. Co-op came out and measured the distance from the existing line to the barn at about 250 feet. We get the first 200 feet free so it cost me for 50 feet, one pole and the underground feeder to the service panel. Basically a 90 foot run to the house, and 3 branches of 300, 400, & 500 feet. The direct burial wire, 3 strand, was a little fatter than my thumb per wire. Major cost, but what does one do?
From the 100 amp panel it is 333 ft to the front of the property, and Iâ ve already got an empty 1â PVC conduit buried and ready for the wire to be pulled. From that point at the front of the property itâ s another 60 ft over to the far edge of . As you can see its been well taken care of over the years and modified a bit (I think it originally came with an 8 HP Kohler but the 5 HP Briggs does just fine)-the inline filter is a nice addition. I love old American made stuff like this-once I get my John Deere 110 tractor running it will look good towing the splitter! i used one box of 150 grain pointed soft points but i am leary of loading the marlin's tube magazine with pointed ammo. i bought the 35 rem caliber as a brush gun. i had a few issues with brush and the 30-30. i put a target on a 10 inch pine tree and the 200 grain 35 rem bullets go through it clean. looks like that tree will be next years .
a generator wired to run the pump circuit ideally with a generator cross connect box that breaks the circuit then connects to the generator power or you have to go to a DC pump , have a battery array with a large inverter cost wise and considering charging time and fuel generator becomes a very solid way to go and not have to change pumps
