Good morning! I have this part that I'm trying to convert to sheet metal, a rolled open profile that will likely be formed on a rod in a press brake with a suitable special bottom die. I can get the surface created but not any swept profiles that will flatten. The thickness is .049 if that helps and I would use a K factor of .5As you can imagine, this is very easy to produce in sheet metal. To test it out i created the leg using a surface sweep, and the other surface with a fill. I knitted them together, and if i try to thinken it everything works fine. But if i try to convert to sheet metal solid works enables me to do so with th eleg but disregards the other surface.I have recently got into learning surfacing in Solidworks 2012 and I have been working on some sheet metal components. I have been using surfaces with the aim of later converting them to sheet metal. The way i have gone about this is simply modeling internal/external faces using surfaces. However, when i go to 'convert sheet metal' I have no luck.
I am attempt to make a sheet metal part out of a lofted surface. I have come to a stop where i need help to proceed further. Attached is the model in Solidworks 2018. I would like to make this a sheet metal part. I believe it can be created without having to stretch the metal, but I don't know any way to make this using the sheet metal options. The lofted bend isn't working because I don't see any options of making it tangent. I can't use surface flatten because I don't have Premium. Thanks!I have a closed surface which I want to convert into sheet metal. I had tried almost everything on the help but have been unsuccessful. I have attached the file, if somebody could please convert this to sheet metal and explain me the steps involved it will be highly appreciated. thanks . Hasan

Converting it to sheet metal failed. I understand the error, but I obviously have so much to learn.. Error: "Cannot be a bend edge as there is a face for this edge which is non planar.. Ok, so, if you cant' have bends across non planar faces, how in the heck do you tell Solidworks "It's ok, we do it all the time in the real world!" I would .
I'm trying to convert a loft into a sheet metal part to be flattened. The part is attached below. Any suggestions? Thought about exporting to a STEP and then bringing it back in but no luck unless I'm missing a step. The project is for a mixer blade. I used loft because I know the beginning and ending location of the part on each plain.

To do this I will be cutting some sheet rubber into the required shape and sticking it to the prototypes. The overmould is quite a complex surface, and I was wondering is there a way in SolidWorks to flatten this surface into a sheet part which I could then cut from the rubber? I have attached the part file.Good morning!
